PT Sinergi Wahana Gemilang, supported by IBM, successfully hosted Bob-a-thon: Accelerate Java & RPG Modernization with IBM Bob on May 26, 2026, at IBM Indonesia Office, The Plaza 16th Floor, Jakarta.
The hands-on session introduced how IBM Bob, an AI-first IDE and agentic development platform, can help technology teams accelerate enterprise application modernization in a more efficient, secure, and structured way.
Throughout the session, participants explored two key modernization areas: Java Modernization and RPG Modernization. For Java, IBM Bob supports application upgrades, such as Java 8 to Java 17, legacy framework refactoring, and AI-assisted application transformation. For RPG, IBM Bob helps teams understand legacy RPG applications, define modernization pathways, and support integration into modern architectures.
Through discussions and demonstrations, participants gained a clearer view of how IBM Bob can help development teams understand complex codebases, accelerate refactoring, reduce technical debt, and support DevSecOps practices from the early stages of development.
Bob-a-thon also served as a platform for technology leaders, developers, and decision-makers to see how agentic development can help organizations move from legacy systems to modern applications faster, safer, and with greater confidence.
As an IBM Value Added Distributor in Indonesia, PT Sinergi Wahana Gemilang remains committed to supporting the adoption of enterprise technologies that are relevant to modern business needs. Through enablement initiatives such as Bob-a-thon, SWG aims to help partners and customers better understand the potential of IBM Bob in accelerating application modernization across enterprise environments.
This session is expected to open more opportunities for collaboration and discussion around application modernization, especially for organizations looking to improve agility, reduce legacy system complexity, and build a stronger technology foundation for future business needs.
